Committees

The League of Women Voters is an all-volunteer organization, and most of our work is done in the committee setting. The committees are comprised of hard-working members who work together to accomplish important things in our community, state and nation. By joining a committee you will be meeting new friends with the shared vision of making democracy work for all citizens.

The Voter Service Committee facilitates candidate forums, shares objective information about candidates and issues, registers voters, and provides education to the public via webinars. If you want to work for voting rights and voter education, this might be the place for you.   To learn more or volunteer for this committee, contact Julie Rodewald at voterservice@lwvslo.org.

The Natural Resources Committee actively tracks major environmental issues countywide. In addition to updates on these local issues, the committee periodically produces webinars that increase awareness of vital issues. This committee has enormous potential and influence. If you are concerned about our natural environment and would like to help, contact Neil Havlik at naturalresources@lwvslo.org.

The Social Policy Committee addresses issues including Housing & Homelessness and Criminal Justice. Both are complex issues that significantly impact the health and safety of our communities. If you want to be a positive force in solving some of these problems, contact Kim Gravell or Glenn Silloway at socialpolicy@lwvslo.org.

The Governmental Policy Committee monitors activities, issues, and positions related to local government and its operations.  Committee members follow government issues and proceedings on websites and in the media.  They observe local government bodies and evaluate how they are operating with regard to League Government Positions and Program priorities.  Contact the Government Policy Committee at govtpolicy@lwvslo.org.

The Membership Committee  keeps track of membership, welcomes new members, helps plan social events, and works in a variety of ways to keep members involved and to make them feel appreciated for their services.  If you wish to motivate other members to be involved, can manage the online member information, or are good at planning member events, we invite you to join this committee. Contact the Membership Committee at membership@lwvslo.org.

The Communications Committee creates and publishes our online communications, produces webinars and virtual meetings, and updates the website. If you can write, edit, or have knowledge in the areas of social media, computers or websites, this committee could use your services. Contact Janice Langley at communications@lwvslo.org.
