Election information

To register to vote in California, you must be:
  • A United States citizen and a resident of California (for information on voters in the military or overseas, please see Military and Overseas Voters)
  • 18 years old or older on Election Day
  • Not in prison for a felony conviction
  • Not declared mentally incompetent by a court of law

You may pre-register when you are 16 or 17 years old and you will automatically be registered to vote on your 18th birthday.

Candidate Forums are a place where where voters can listen to candidates express their views and answer questions that attendees have submitted. During election years, the League sponsors Candidates Forums or assists other organizations with Candidate forums. To see archived Candidates Forums, visit our Archive page.
