LWV is switching to a new member portal for all leagues in the US. This change will provide a centralized portal on the LWVUS website where members can join, renew and manage their personal information. You will still access the LWVSLO website to learn about our local League's activities and information. 

▶ Changes in Dues

• Dues will be pay-as-you-can.
• The recommended dues payment is $75 with the option to pay less, with a minimum of $20. This change is intended to make membership accessible to those who currently find dues to be a barrier to joining.
• As before the dues will be split between the local, state and national Leagues, but a larger portion of the dues will be allocated to the local League. The split will be local (20%), state (47%), and national (33%). There will be three charges to your credit card that reflect these allotments.
• If you choose to pay more than $75, the excess will be considered a donation and split between the local, state and national Leagues in the same proportion as the dues.
• Members who usually renew by check will be able to continue paying the dues this way.

▶ Membership Changes

• There will only be one type of membership, individual (primary).
• There will be no household memberships. The new system will automatically change these membership levels into individual (primary) members. Two members in the same household will, however, be able to link the two accounts.
  
• There will be no student memberships. Students will have to pay the minimum $20 dues.
• Persons who have been members for 50 years are Life Members and will continue to have their member dues waived.
• Membership will be valid for a year from the time the member joins or renews.
• Each person will need to have an email address to access the LWVUS site to join, renew or edit personal information.

▶ Donations

• Donations can be made to LWVSLO on our website (LWVSLO.org) or on the LWVUS website using the donate button.
• Donations to LWVSLO are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and are not split with LWVC and LWVUS. Donations to LWVC or LWVUS are not tax-deductible.

The change to this new system will be in February 2025.
