Dana Reserve

Natural Resources Committee members, together with a group from the California Native Plant Society, are monitoring the Dana Reserve project - a large 1,300 unit residential and commercial proposal adjacent to Highway 101 just north of the community of Nipomo.

The County of San Luis Obispo released a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the Dana Reserve project for public review. Members of the LWV SLOCO Natural Resources Committee reviewed the DEIR and drafted a comment letter on behalf of the League in advance of the August 1, 2022 public comment deadline.   The League also submitted a letter to the County Department of Planning and Building in March 2023 requesting that the Planning Commission hold a study session to discuss the project prior to the public hearings on the final EIR.

The League's Dana Reserve Plan DEIR Response can be found here.

In August 2023, the County released the final EIR for the project.
See FEIR on the County's website here.   The League provided public comment on the FEIR, a copy of which can be found here.

The League urged County Planning to conduct a study session to discuss the final EIR and any project modifications being proposed prior the public hearings on the project.  See League's letter for Dana Reserve Project Study Session here and here.

Information on the project may be found on the Countys website HERE.

Action: The Natural Resources Committee will continue to monitor this project for the League.
