"ELECTION DAZE: Making Sense of Recent SCOTUS Decisions on Elections and Vote-by-Mail Ballots”

San Luis Obispo, CA – The Supreme Court's 2026 term reshaped American democracy in real time. Recent judicial rulings affecting the November election raised as many issues as they settled. Where do we stand with challenges to mail-in-ballots and the states’ authority to determine how elections are run?
Retired federal judge Alex Karlin will review recent judicial rulings affecting the November election, including challenges to mail-in-ballots. He will break down the Court's most consequential rulings of the year and what they mean for all of us during this webinar to be held on Monday, October 19 at noon.
Judge Karlin was a Federal Administrative Law Judge with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for 11 years and is admitted as a member of the bar of the Supreme Court. Before becoming a judge, he practiced federal environmental and nuclear law in Washington, DC. Judge Karlin has studied Supreme Court briefs and jurisprudence for 45 years, participated in drafting SCOTUS briefs, and been in the courtroom during numerous oral arguments. He currently volunteers as a Hearing Officer for the City of SLO and serves as the chair of the City's Administrative Review Board.
