- Ed Cabrera and his lively slide show of this year’s events
- A presentation from the League Civil Discourse Committee: "Coping With Chaos", a short discussion of how we might get through these difficult times.
- Guest speaker Kaila Dettman, Executive Director of The Land Conservatory, will share her experiences and guide us to "Finding Hope in Nature."
About our guest speaker:
We're pleased to welcome Kaila Dettman as our guest speaker. Kaila serves as the Executive Director of The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County. Since 1984, The Land Conservancy has protected 66,000 acres of agricultural, open space, and wildlands in and around SLO County. The vast majority of those acres are protected by conservation easements put in place through partnerships with local landowners. In many cases, the properties they help to protect are owned and managed by families that have lived on and cared for the land for generations. The organization also owns and manages multiple preserves, including the Pismo Preserve, Black Lake Canyon Ecological Area, Lower San Luis Obispo Creek Floodplain Preserve, and Santa Rita Ranch.
Kaila joined The Land Conservancy in 2005 to manage the Restoration Program and in November 2012 took the helm of the organization as Executive Director. She now spends her working days supporting her team of professional staff, setting strategy for the organization, building relationships with land owners and partners, and ensuring the organization is operating efficiently and effectively.
The fee for the meeting, including a continental breakfast buffet, is $40 per person. You don't need to be a League member to attend. All are welcome! Doors will open at 9 am and the program will begin at 9:30 am.
